Even though entering their first-ever continental adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable win that all but secures them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another victory in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight entry to the last 16, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Moment
This match offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.
The Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season proved outmatched even for a largely rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.
A solitary worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
