Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored his teammate at all of the last five grands prix.
Lando Norris just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from Piastri by one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, lying 36 points behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
The Japanese slid over the curbs on exit before sliding over the gravel trap, and was lucky to get away with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn leading to the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th place, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's car in third, 0.619 seconds slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
